Spinal Twists & Side Bends for Straddles & Y-Scales w/Caitlin Wallace
Fun fact: Did you know sidebending and rotation are coupled motions in the spine? As in, they will always occur together! This flexibility workshop expands on that, offering innovative drills to improve thoracic rotation (twists), as well as deep hip flexibility, and open shoulders in sidebends. Thoracic mobility in general is a key component of upper back bends and shoulder flexibility, but also ensures proper posture and deeper breathing. The culmination of this class will be y-scale (and y-scale-esque) positions, as well as sidebending in straddles. Along the way we will also discuss the application of different exercises to aerial skills like meathooks, c-shapes, bell beats, and more.
Prerequisites: current flexibility or movement practice (aerial, circus, dance, yoga, pole, acro etc).
