Fabric Floorial
In this workshop we’ll explore the liminal space between the ground and the air, and the ways in which our apparatus acts as a bridge and a tether between the two. We’ll play with modifying basic ground skills as a way of moving with, and mounting the apparatus; spins and starts; and open fabric opportunities.
There will be time set aside for free exploration, and the workshop will finish with students creating their own, unique floorial sequence, if they so choose.
Students may explore certain elements on sling and rope if they wish.
Prerequisites: Fabric experience is not required, however students must have prior aerial experience and should be able to invert easily on any apparatus from the ground, and execute a forward roll/somersault. Ability to execute a backwards roll of any type will be extremely helpful but not required.
There will be optional opportunities to explore mixing basic tumbling with the apparatus and for students interested in those skills they *must* be able to execute a solid cartwheel on the ground and be comfortable kicking up to a handstand in free space (no hold required) without a spot.
