Aerial Fabric Teacher Training
Join Air Temple Arts for our Aerial Fabric Teacher Training June 18th, 19th, & 20th 2021!
In this workshop we will learn how to teach aerial skills effectively and safely, with a focus on understanding the techniques, mechanics, and rules that act as the foundation for all aerial work.
Our aim is to encourage deep-thinking instructors who can bridge the gap between explaining the steps to complete a trick, and intimately understanding the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ behind the trick.
We will use the Air Temple Arts curriculum as the basis for our workshop and explore keystone aerial fabric skills for common failure points, blocks, and modifications. The workshop covers modules on class management, teaching methodologies, safe spotting, fabric theory, rigging and injury prevention. We will use both active/participatory, and classroom style learning, as well as opportunities to practicing teaching, quizzes, and more. Students who are interested in bolstering their knowledge of fabric teaching and theory, but do not have an interest in teaching are welcome to attend!
Prerequisites: Participants should have a current aerial fabric practice and be comfortable performing basic skills such as cross-back straddle, single star, windmill hipkey, salto/dive and be able to invert in the air with ease. Open to ages 16+
